Midland Cabinet Company’s founder Robert Boynton reflects on the joys of doing what he wanted to do from the start.
Build with wood.
Midland Cabinet turned 60 this year, quite a milestone for a company from humble beginnings in, what else? A garage in my parents’ San Mateo home.
I knew as a kid what I wanted to do, and I’m doing it with my family and Midland’s crew of artisans: creating the finest custom cabinetry and woodwork for some of the most luxurious homes in the world.
It is challenging work to keep up with the creative, expansive energy of Silicon Valley. But that is exactly why Midland has exceled. We like pushing wood and design boundaries, plus nothing about building with wood is intimidating. It inspires us.
Our success over these many decades is based on a proven dedication to craftsmanship. We build for the long term in style and function, and we have deep roots on the Peninsula. We own the building and we make our products in a 23,000-square-foot fabrication center within the San Carlos-based headquarters.
As Midland moves into its 61st year, we wish you, our friends, neighbors, and family peace and good health in 2026. And we thank our clients and professional colleagues for giving us a place at the table in 2025 to make a house a home, for
holidays and every day.
